Baby on the move

You know how in my last post I said Izzy would be walking before she crawls? Just kidding! Within the last two weeks she has mastered crawling, and is now ALWAYS on the move. It’s so funny watching her because sometimes I think she forgets how to crawl and she looks like a baby animal learning to walk for the first time. She’ll stumble forward, get her legs tangled and usually face plant into the ground. But when she gets going, man does she know how to go. She can also go from tummy, to being on all fours, to now picking herself up to be on two legs and stand. I still stand by what I said though about walking by her ninth month. She just loves being on two legs! Also, in the second week of February, Izobelle and I moved into our own apartment and it has been sooo wonderful! I got all new furniture and Izzy has her own room, I have mine and she’s the best room mate I could ask for 🙂 I also got a new job working M-F 8-5 and it’s amazing! Although I loved working at the swim school, I am now an Administrative Assistant at a Physical Therapy and Sports Enhancement clinic and it’s given me much more opportunities and I get more quality time with Izobelle. I never thought I would say how much I enjoy an 8-5 job!

31 weeks and three days.

The title is a reflection on a recent chat I had with a woman in where I complimented her on having such a cute son. When I asked how old he was, her response was “36 months.” I’m sorry but it is long over due for you to stop referring to your son in “baby years.” Just say he is three. Even though Izobelle is still a baby, I thought I would share that today she is 31 weeks and three days…or seven months 🙂 She went to her dad’s house for four days last week (the longest I’ve ever been away from her) and boy oh boy, did it feel much longer. She came back knowing how to clap! Within the last month, she had recently conquered waving when people say “hi” or “bye” and I knew clapping was soon to follow. She loves it! She does it every time she smiles, or sees someone else crack a smile or clap themselves. I can’t believe how quickly she can catch on to things. She’s growing so fast; it’s bittersweet. A part of me can hardly wait for her to get to the age where she can walk/run and actually play more and really interact with people. But at the same time, I am saddened how quickly every day passes and my time with her as a baby is extremely limited. It makes it even worse when she leaves to go to her dad’s. I try my hardest to make the best of the situation and enjoy every moment with her now as much as I can. Back to her progressing: I’m pretty sure she’ll be walking before she crawls. She really doesn’t enjoy being on all fours. I can tell she wants to crawl but she just gets into a rocking motion with her body and usually face plants after a few seconds. What she can do though? She can stand on her own and she loves it! At first it started with just leaning her up against something and letting her grip on, and stay there without anybody’s help. And sure enough, just two weeks later, she can balance herself well enough to stand on her own, without gripping or leaning against anything. Last night she stood for at least two minutes just playing with some toys in her hand. But of course, I started clapping because I was so excited and she immediately dropped her toys and started clapping with, causing her to lose her balance. She even has the stepping motion down, so long as someone is holding her hands. I would be willing to bet she’s walking in her ninth month 🙂 I’m optimistic mommy!  I think it’s time to baby proof the house.
